Life at WovenLight
You can't change conditions - just the way you deal with them.
Time will multiply whatever you feed it. Good habits make time your ally. Bad habits make time your enemy.
Learn the rules like a professional, so you can break them like an artist.
If you care about the people you work with then you work harder.
Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.
What we stand for
The things we obsess over as a firm.
Performance is our North Star
We’re a performance company first, a technology company second. We deploy cutting-edge IP to help our clients be the best they can be.
Clarity of Purpose
Pinpoint where you can have the greatest impact in the shortest amount of time and deliver. People will see the results and back you as you tackle the harder, deeper opportunities. Decision = Purpose * Context
Flywheels
The process of compounding is a superpower. As a firm we strive to invest in building assets that compound; so that each execution cycle is faster, more precise, more impactful than the last.
Reducing Waste
It’s good for the planet, it’s good for our clients, it’s also good for us. Life is too short to spend wasting time, effort or resources.
Talent Density
We strive for magnetism; naturally attracting the talent that fits our culture. Recruit exceptional employees. Hire exceptional freelancers. Work with exceptional partners. Great people want to work with you because great people already do.
Loops, Not Lines
Never stop learning. One of the most powerful things about data is not the special insight it gives you, but the fact that it gives you a feedback mechanism.
That Human Touch
We’re nice to work with. We’re (relatively) normal. We have a sense of humour. We’re not arrogant or demanding. We bend over backwards to make things work.
Tempo & Rhythm
In sports, elite teams control the game; in movies suspense isn’t created from speeding things up, it comes from slowing things down. As a firm we obsess about mastering the art of good timing.
Leave Space for Others

The gap between the leading edge and trailing edge of what companies are doing with their data is only growing bigger. And, in the long run, the companies that do best will be those that best utilise their data, especially those who learn iteratively. I'm excited to be working at WovenLight, where I can work on a variety of projects across industries, but with this key focus in mind.

Simon is focussed on weaving the skills and methods of data science with the private equity investment lifecycle to deliver a consistent and differentiated approach.
Simon’s career in applied data started more than 25 years ago. He was a Co-Founder and Chief Executive of QuantumBlack, an analytics firm with its roots in Formula 1. QuantumBlack was acquired by McKinsey & Co, and now has a global presence helping leading organisations improve operational performance through advanced analytics. Simon started his career at Reuters in product management and then moved to ABN AMRO in Amsterdam. In due course he progressed to building technology companies. WovenLight is the fourth firm Simon has helped set up. Two others sold. One failed.
Simon lives in Twickenham, south-west London with his wife, two children and faithful hound.
As a fan of fine cartography, I realised that maps are layers of data that can be turned on and off to answer different questions; as this data continuously morphs and evolves the most valuable element is not the insight it offers, but the feedback mechanism it gives us. It allows you to learn faster.
To me, this observation is critical to reskilling humans and redesigning processes to tackle our future challenges and protect livelihoods.

Ziedo works as a Senior Data Scientist at WovenLight. With experience across consulting, start-ups, and big tech, combined with a background in mathematics and scientific research, he is passionate about applying a rigorous approach to data science and analytics in order to drive real value creation.
Previously, Ziedo worked as a Senior Data Scientist at TikTok, building internal machine learning and analytics solutions to support the TikTok e-commerce platform. Prior to this he worked as a Data Scientist at Series A (later Series B) start-up Unmind, working across the full data science spectrum from problem scoping, A/B testing, analytics, ML, and deployment. Before that, he worked as a consultant at Newton Europe, working with a wide range of both private and public sector organisations.
Ziedo holds a PhD in Analytical Science (Physics and Biomedical Engineering), an MSc in Analytical Science, and a BSc in Mathematics, all from the University of Warwick.
My favourite thing about data science is that it touches every single part of a business - whether measuring the effectiveness of a marketing strategy, learning the most impactful levers for customer retention, identifying high-potential sales leads, and even understanding your competition. With the AI boom that we’re all currently experiencing, it has become more important than ever to ensure that data science work is built on solid foundations and with scalable infrastructure. I’m excited by the years ahead, and by what data science and AI can do for businesses across the world.
